Catalogue Draft
At last, I took the time to compile the outcomes of my previous experiments and tasks, weaving them
into what I've come to call my "making catalog." It's interesting to note that a significant chunk of
these endeavors unfolded during a period when nihilism was at the forefront of my focus. Despite this,
I felt compelled to include them in the catalog, recognizing their value, though I might reconsider
their inclusion later down the line. My primary goal at the moment was to create a catalog with a
simple, yet engaging layout, and use this opportunity to hone my narrative skills. I believe that, in
the future, these entries might serve as valuable markers of my creative journey, each experiment
contributing to the evolving narrative of my artistic exploration.
Nihilism was a philosophy I had always identified with and related to. It
seemed like the perfect opportunity to explore that concept, and attempt to reveal more of myself
alongside the final year project. The idea that the meaninglessness of life could be tied to
interactions with technology appealed to me on a personal level. Having always occupied my time and
distracting myself from that meaningless life with endless gaming and scrolling, I wanted to take this
time to learn more about this particular behaviour. At the same time, I could find out more about how
technology has shaped this mindset.
Inspirations
I liked the layouts of these books, and it had an easygoing vibe. I wanted to recreate that in my own
catalogue, making use of white space and contrasting fonts. I found that I did not have enough
material to work with? Or the textures of my existing material did not synergise well. Some were
screenshots, some were actual photos etc. The quality of my material was not consistent, resulting in
a lacklustre catalogue… At the very least, the layout looks great on a screen. .
